Leonard Tourné Gallery presents "The Situation Is Catastrophic But Not Serious," a one-night solo exhibition by New York-based artist Alfredo Martinez

A native of Brooklyn, Martinez gained notoriety in 2002 when he was sentenced to three years in prison for forging drawings by Jean-Michele Basquiat. Upon his release he moved to China, where he again landed in jail while researching the inner workings of a portable nuclear launcher, known as a Davy Crocket, for one of his sculptures. He was deported from China in 2010.

The show, taking place on Thursday, December 15 from 6-8pm, will highlight a new series of Martinez's drawings of guns and bombs, created on collages of hand-made paper.

Martinez's work has been shown in exhibitions around the globe, including in New York, Beijing, and Tokyo, and is featured in the MoMa collection.
